i just find the awards supsect. i KNEW the other people in the nominations. i never heard one of the winner.
for example, if In The Tank won as podcast, it weould've sucjkjed but at least i wouldve known what it was. Instead, what the fuck is "Risk"? Did the hosts pull an eatspaste? And no im not kidding. |

Risk is like the Moth except for instead of one spoken word performance, they have a theme and everyone on the show's story has to do with that theme. Several KATG guests have been on it, including Victor Varnado.
I'm sad KATG lost though. |

To be honest, the show can be hit or miss for me. Sometimes the speaker is extremely engaging and wonderful to listen to. But sometimes they immediately irritate me and I have to fast forward through it. Elna Baker is one of my favorite female performers on the show. She grew up Mormon and talks about trying to reconcile that upbringing with the real world. She had a story about adopting a crazy pitbull named Daisy that actually made me cry right on the damned bus home, and I'm someone who avoids public crying like....well, like a dude. I've liked everyone from KATG who's been on there -- although I don't even remember Danny's story so it must not have been that mind blowing. At any rate, I've been listening to Keith and the Girl since show 60 or so and it's the absolute only podcast that has ever gotten that kind of loyalty out of me. But it sounds like these awards were more of the snooty art scene type, kind of pretentious.

Did I hear Keith say something about people being crazy to live near a nuclear power station?
A quick Wiki search reveals that in the New York area of the USA there are 25 working nuclear power stations (at least in 2008), not to mention the reactors that might be tied up in NY harbour at any one time. Nuclear power in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
