Late but maybe

I'd like to shed a possible alternate view on why it's easier for Keith to accept Chemda being with a woman after him.

At some base level guys would prefer that a women they have sex with never sleep with another man, but it's deeper than that. At some primal level guys want to be the only man fucking. Throughout history men have had multiple wives, rarely have wives been allowed to have multiple husbands. Raping the wives of other men was considered a boon to war.
Men rage with testosterone, this crazy super drug that makes us want to kill and fuck. I read an interesting article from a women who was undergoing a sex change procedure and the testosterone treatment was the hardest part for her/him... rage and the desire to fuck everything that moved was terrifying.

Historically the strongest men were the ones who were able to have sex most frequently, and they fought to keep their women. Losing women was a sign of weakness... remember we are generally speaking a product of the strongest people... those that were most successful in living... those that could protect and mate. Society is a relatively modern invention, and rules had to be created to rope in our baser instincts. 2 of the ten commandments are basically to keep us from killing each other over sex and power (do not commit adultery (probably because your neighbor will try and kill you) and do not covet your neighbors wife (probably because you will try and kill your neighbor). Paired relationships are also very new idea. How many wives did Abraham have... divorce is an extremely new idea. So what's my point?

Modern man has been trained to repress the survival mechanisms that have been key to life for tens of thousands of years. Men were bred to compete against other men. The women they had, the more children they could produce (a survival win). Losing women to other men, and loosing the ability to breed was a survival loss. There was nothing in our evolutionary training that made us compete against women and women, there is no evolutionary playbook to tell us what that means.

I'm pretty sure the codename could have been "Lincoln" or "Martin Luther". (other famous assassinations). It's just a name.

I also like the idea that there is no more Native American history, are they all dead? Is this the case in the states and they're only alive in Canada and Mexico, Central and South America? Hmmm. Jesus, who have I been talking to, just a bunch of white men in redface?
Native Americans, like Mexicans (my people) are conquered peoples. While I agree that our heroes and our history are important, I'd also like to point out that we live in a unique time that we can even have that. In general, conquered people get shit if they even get their lives. Heroes to the people they fought for, like Geronimo, are not heroes to the people they fought against. If he had been code named Poncho Villa, I would have understood. To America, the hero that my dad told me stories about, that I believed was a champion, was a terrorist.

I agree that Native American heroes need to be more in the consciousness of our country, and that guy who complained is going to get a lot more funding to do so. I only said it was retarded because it feels like media mongering-going for the biggest score at the most opportune time.

To bring an example of something I'm more experienced with, MECHA does the same thing. If some congressman says "beaner" to his wife and their friends in private company, they freak fucking out. But if ordinary Chicanos are experiencing direct racial profiling and police brutality, there's nothing they can do. There's no money in defending the people.

It's not like I objected to the holocaust center at my college either, in fact I'm proud to have gone to a college that hosted that kind of historical research. I'm only saying that people don't just shell out for minority research on a whim, they have to think that there's a reason, and "history should be preserved" is not a reason. "Racism in this specific instance is a direct threat to you and all you believe and hold dear" is a really good reason.

Concur: to agree

Conquer: to acquire by force of arms

I couldn't help myself, "concurred" people was just pulling me straight out of the paragraph.
