Holy crap, almost died laughing at todays' show.
Keith, Why do ANY science? Why go to space? Why climb a mountain? Because we must. Why did any one risk their life, reputation and fortune exploring the Atlantic? To their fellow country men these explorers were vagabonds wasting precious resources on boondoggles. Your new stand-up title is so appropriate. If you need me I'll be outside. http://www.nsschapters.org/policy-cm...HY-JGL_302.pdf NASA spinoffs, space benefits, space history, NASA space spinoffs, NASA technology products The Straight Dope: Why do we travel in space? Re: New Orleans housing deeds. City planners put flood plain restrictions on builders and they in turn put it in the leases that you have to bail when the water is-a-comin'. Anything built within the limits of 1-in-100 year flood lines do so at their own risk. This limits disaster aid costs and helps those who build responsibly get affordable insurance. There are also environmental issues. Look at the recent floods in Australia - people flooded out today built on land that was under water just 30 years before. I have sat through MANY city council meeting watching rich SOB land developers trying to force buildings into areas the city will just have to rescue and bail out once the flood waters hit like just happened in my home town last week. |

On Strauss-Kahn, my theory is that this case is similar to the Elliot Spitzer scandal. Strauss-Kahn was paying a private firm for confidential escort services. He had planned for a "quickie" in New York along his trip from Washington to Germany, which provided the perfect opportunity to excuse his absence from home. The maid was at the right place, but unfortunately at the wrong time. She was possibly entering the room around the time Strauss-Kahn expected his paid escort. With his adrenaline on overdrive, the maid had no chance in making him realize she wasn't a prostitute.

I was listening to some comedian recently saying poker stories are the new dream stories, like how when someone else tells you their amazing dream no matter how amazing it is it's always boring as shit to listen to them yap about it, and poker stories are the same.
99% of the time I agree with this. The other 1% of the time is when Chemda's telling poker stories. I don't know why or how, but she somehow makes them good listening. By the way let me mention this ... next time some poker nerd cocksucker of an opponent gives their opinion/advice on what you did wrong when you just won a hand take a half a beat while looking them in the eye and say, "... and that's exactly what I want you to think." Or better yet don't look them in the eye, just look down and as you count your chips say it in a low voice just loud enough for everyone to hear but as if you were saying it to yourself. And then when they're like, "What's that?" you respond with that "Huh?" thing Keith does when he pretends to get caught saying something naughty by Chemda. |

Take it from someone that had to sit through 5 days of weather reports after that flooding, the cases are different.

Christ, the excuses some people will give rapists no matter what they do are shocking even to this cynic. Locally we had a coach plead no contest to assaulting ELEVEN of his female students over the past several years and you go to the comments section of the article and it's all these guys talking about how all the girls must have come on to him, how they all dress like sluts, etc. Eleven victims is not enough for you assholes to admit that maybe this guy is a predator? How many kids would he have to rape to meet your standard of "bad guy?" But frankly it doesn't surprise me one bit to see that you're the one who posted this comment. Some asshole rapes a maid but you're still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. "Oh, he hired a hooker for the night and got confused." If he is unable to differentiate between someone he's hired for sex and a completely innocent bystander then he shouldn't be out in public because he's obviously going to be shoving his dick into anything that moves.

Regarding "word minimums", I've read that women usually speak 10,000 words per day, vs. only 7,000 for men. Roommates past have definitely called me on being overly talky after having spent some days in relative isolation. The life of a freelancer, definitely.
