A thought I had the other day when dealing with this guy was that he wasn't stupid, he just doesn't think a whole lot. Maybe that's a weird distinction, and certainly not a flattering thing I would actually say to this guy, but it sounded good to me. I still voted yes though. |

the probelm with voting is that morons do it regulraly an dsmart peopl e bastain so the results are fucked.
still, everyone should vote because its a duty. people with disabilities and lack of rights fight to vote, so whenever people are too apathetic to do it, theyre just spitting into the face of anyone who fights for it. if you want a democracy, you have to vote. |

I am a Democrat in a very Red state (Kentucky), where my vote really doesn't count. Thus to ensure that I get up and vote anyway, about 6 months before any election, I start reading facebook status updates to choose the most ignorant person that my vote will counter. In this way, my vote counts. At least to me.

You know what, I kinda like that.
I have a problem with Junk's assertions of "duty" and "face spitting". The essence of liberty is choice. Sure, it saddens me to speak to a relatively cognizant individual who tells me they "can't be bothered" voting because "what does it matter anyway?". But I have actually always considered my vote to be a counter to the forces of ignorance and apathy. |

you make a good point but on the larger view, what really rubs me the wrtong way is knowing that a large number of people would love to be able to vote, even only cause its a very important right, and they cant for many reasons. (physical, social or political).
And there's the abastaining elite, from the high horse of "i dont give a shit", who basically not only refuse to participate in one of the staples of democracy but even laugh at people who do. |
