and just on the topic of Mark Normand, I think this whole lying issue has made him 40-50% more entertaining to me. Keep him on, just don't worry about taking his stories seriously. I think Mike Lawrence summed it up best when he equated Mark's presence to temporarily having gold; the gold turns to coal but at least you had gold for a moment. |

With Mark's weird attitude about lying, I turned off the show before the end. (For what it's worth, I haven't done that with any other episode.)
It really does put him in the same category as Danny Lobell. Why should I bother listening to him at all--as a talk show guest or as a comedian? |

I kinda feel for Mark a little bit. I'm not excusing his behavior, but he reminds me of who I was when I was younger. From ages 14-16 I would lie about all sorts of shit, nothing huge, just little things at first. But then it got bigger, and more complex, and harder to keep up with the lies I had told people. Of course, like all things do, it caught up with me. I lost friends, got myself into trouble, etc. Sure enough, as per Chemda's suggestion to Mark, it wasn't until I entered therapy where I was able to learn how to curb the behavior for good and begin to mend the relationships that were mendable.
But i guess there is a bigger difference even in that comparison. I was an early teen, and Mark is in his late 20's. I enjoy Mark as a guest, and hope to hear him back on. SIDENOTE: If you're comparing him to Lobell, you're a goddamn moron.

This was my favourite appearance yet by Mark. It's the first time I've been struck by how quick he is. He's like Mike Lawrence level fast. His words are like Manny Paquiao's fisticuffs.
I also loved Keith's yelling bit and how he worked it in with the detective video game tricking him into yelling. Quote:

There's exceptions (Ray DeVito comes to mind), but for the most part i always assume they are pushing sides of their personality, embellishing stories, leaving out details.. Stand-up is telling lies professionally for the purpose of making people laugh. Even when its the truth, it's a version of the truth with some variations for comedy purposes. So, if the lies dont affect you personally, i dont see the reason in being upset. Why do you care? |
