I used to live in shanghai some time back and all the restuarants there had mice, and cockroaches, so I guess that stuff doesn't bother me as much anymore. I'm not going back to a place where I've been treated with disrespect by the staff.

Kate will probably always be quiet when compared to Americans
I was stationed in the UK in 1983, when back to the US in 1985 and returned to the UK in 1986 and have stayed here since.
It has been my experience that with a few exceptions, most of the British I've met would be considered very quiet by Americans, and Kate is probably another example. I'm told that I'm not as loud as I used to be, but I'm still asked to keep my voice down. When I work with Americans, which happens more often than you would think, most of them think I'm either British or Canadian and when I point out I'm not, they say I'm not loud enough to be from the US. I find myself constantly trying to read lips to understand my neighbours and work colleagues. Because I spent so much time around aircraft while in the military, I seem to have lost some hearing in the audio range that most women and children's voices seem to be in. I find that when I can't hear someone, I unconsciously raise my voice. When I do this, I find most of the British I know get quieter. When I say, "pardon" or "I can't hear you" they do the same. Even worse is when a woman wears the face veil or niqab, because I can't see their lips. At least with the phone, I can raise the volume. |

Here's my prolapsed anus story...
This was a few years ago. My long-distance girlfriend just went back home after staying with me for a week. She left behind the vibrator I had just bought her. One night I shrugged, put a condom over the vibrator, put on some lube and gave it a whirl. No problems yet. But the next day I felt horrendous. I had a fever, I was sweating, had a splitting headache, and was pale. I went to work but could barely do anything I felt so bad. I was running errands for work when I got into my car and when I sat down I felt a terrible pain. I screamed it was so bad. I called work said I wasn't feeling well and went home. I went into the bathroom and tried to figure out why it hurt so bad when I sat down. Half of my anus had prolapsed. Yes, half. And it was only out a tiny bit (I didn't have a ruler on me at the time). I pushed it back in and I immediately felt better. My color came back, my headache went away. I'm convinced I could have died by prolapsed anus.

About naming the mouse, Keith was talking about his own waiting experience then inferring. Also there is no such thing as just one mouse. Unless someone had it as a pet and it escaped.
Didn't Chemda continue to go to a Thai (or maybe it was Indian) restaurant that had horrible service and was shut down for a time by the health department? I doubt the health inspector cared that the person handling the food was a cunt. I just think in her mind, actually seeing the mouse made all the difference. |

I would be grossed out by mice or cockroaches running free in a cafe, but hamsters in tubes around the place might be interesting. Just don't put them at eye level when I'm sitting down and clean up their mess.

Restaurants are open to the public, so rodents, birds and insects will occasionally get inside. There's no helping it. It's even more prevalent in places with outdoor seating, which are pretty common here in Texas. Hiring assholes is not really acceptable. I would probably freak out if a prolapsed anus scurried into the restaurant. That might roon my meal. |

I think rude staff is worse than a mouse. I am not that squicked out by mice. Although, cockroaches gross me the fuck out. So even though I know that they are in most restaurants, if I saw one, I wouldn't go back to that place for awhile.
