I take all points presented.
I guess can see how the net acts as more of a symbol of "we don't want you to die." and it might make that person feel as if someone cared thus deterring them from jumping. So, in that way the net is a good think. I also see how it can reduce harm. Perhaps I was simplifying it too much, suicide is a complex issue and people aren't thinking clearly and not everyone is going to know about the net and it will help those who change their minds half way between jumping and landing, and can give them a wake up call that they don't actually want to die. ALSO, I think they should be giant trampolines that bounce them right back up to the bridge, that would be awesome.
