Ray's smart
After introducing myself to Ray at the latest April 15th weekend, he remembered me from a letter I wrote in and K&C read on air during episode 922, just a random letter read on one of Ray's 36 shows over 2 years ago. Ray remembered my made-up KATG name and the gist of the story, so I think he's a bright guy, if in his own way.

I know exactly who Barry Sobel is, and have almost the EXACT memories of him as Ray does, I am 2 years older than Ray. Sobel was like the Eminem of comedy back then. Then, suddenly, in the late 80s, he just disappeared from TV.
Also on that Uptown Comedy show w/Sobel were then-relatively unknowns, Arsenio Hall and Chris Rock. Also Robert Townsend and Marsha Warfield. Maybe I saw the guy on something a few years ago to give me this impression, but I figured if he was still doing comedy, his current act would be just like Ray described. But still, I knew i had to hear this show when I saw that title. I thought you might have snagged Sobel at first. Funny show, but Keith should go easy on Ray's Roast bit. I cringe every time I see or hear bits of Keith's stand up. |

I know who Barry Sobel is too (from Dr. Katz.) I also know that the joke wasn't funny. The really bizarre thing is Ray's explanation of the joke, that the parallel was that both Sobel and Christian Finnegan are closeted gays when it's pretty clear he is saying that they are both the token white people of the shows they're on. I mean, he just listened to his own joke and he doesn't get it.

New ios5 Settings
Keith not sure if someone already let you know this or not, but you can change the settings in the new iPhone IOS5 in regards to others knowing if you read their Messages or not. Under Settings; Messages; turn Off Send Read Receipts. Easy peasy.

More info about the actress/age thing:
'The suit alleges that IMDbPro must have matched credit card information with public records to glean the information without her knowledge. “Jane Doe” asked IMDbPro to remove the information and they refused. The suit alleges that IMDbPro “intercepts credit card information obtained during the subscription process for the purposes of gathering information about its subscribers” and further “both defendants are fully aware of the information-gathering, storing and usage process and have done nothing to stop the unlawful and wrong practices.” The privacy policy on IMDbPro’s website said that when it comes to posting personal information, “We receive and store any information you enter on our Web site or give us in any other way.” And, the privacy policy continues that the website reserves the right to gather information “like your name and age” when you register, answer quizzes or questionnaires.' edit: For subscriptions, you usually have to put in some kind of identity verification information, which could include age (as Chemda mentioned). Technically, you always have a choice when you're putting information like this on a web site and probably shouldn't (as Keith said), but IMDB Pro is used by industry professionals to get real phone numbers and other semi-private information in order to build up relationships/contacts/networking for work. So it could be a very big advantage for her job. If she was required to put in her real age while signing up, then IMDB does hold some responsibility. She'd probably lose the case though, since their policy is up on their web site and it's not life-threatening for her to stay away from membership. But if that was an optional field, then the case would be in Amazon's favour. Either way, I don't think she'll win. Last edited by thirteen; 10-20-2011 at 04:51 PM. |
