In response to Rick Perry's ad when he mentions prayer in public schools, formal prayer has been eliminated since 1962. I wonder if anyone's heard of the Lemon test.
As to not being able to celebrate Christmas, there's two versions the secular/commercial one and the religious one. As to kids not being on Facebook this reminds me of when I was in grade school and we didn't have cable television, I felt out of the loop when my friends were talking about Stripes. |

Computer use
Keith is showing his age a bit. I hear there's an opening at 60 Minutes for a crotchety old man.
In all seriousness though, computers are an integral and necessary part of life, especially for kids growing up today. Considering what's out there on the internet in general, facebook should be the least of your concerns. I grew up in the age of dialup when we all thought AOL was the actual internet. I was probably 12 years old the first time I saw scat porn, just for a bit of perspective. There are privacy controls, too. When someone types in my name, they see a picture of my dog as my profile pic, and that's all. It's easy to protect kids as long as you're involved as a parent. How hard is it to make sure your kids friends are people they and you actually know? It takes two minutes of sitting down, with them, and looking at their friend list. |

I'm not really up on gay causes, but stuff like that Rick Perry ad and the National Organization for Marriage ad... they really fucking hurt.

I wonder whats the general age that most mens exposure to porn in the 80's 90's and now. I only ask cause for me I was about 10 or 11 (early 90's) and for a lot of my friends growing up that was sort of old. I think it has not varied that much even considering how readily accessible it is on the internet.
Also Keith's argument shows just how black and white he is in his decisions. Monotoring your child's access isn't enough! Its either no internet or your child is chatting with pedophiles on-line about the color of their undies. |

This is another impossible poll I am sitting out though. Which makes sense since I have neither kids nor Facebook. Last edited by starscream; 12-13-2011 at 05:21 AM. |

Keith's right in that Facebook should be withheld from kids til they're older.
My girlfriend's kid is thirteen now, she wasn't allowed on facebook until her birthday and not a day sooner, even then permission was given begrudgingly by her mother. Since then all it's seemed to breed is drama, either it's online bitch-fights, friendships breaking up or these teenage girls whoring it up. She spends all of her time on facebook too yet rarely actually meets up with her friends (what could you have to talk about after being on chat for 5 hours straight?). What really shocked her mother was how sexually aware she was, from comments and her 'likes' it's clear she's no naive kid anymore (that and the noise of me fucking her mum probably doesn't help). I think even smartphones should be kept back, she and my girlfriend (a teacher) both have stories of boys in class viewing porn on their phone and showing it to others. No kid needs this level of technology, when I was 12/13, a mere 10 years ago, you talked to your friends at school and played with the kids on your street, not take a thousand self-shots in a mirror and ask your friends to rate them. |

I went with Keith on the poll, simply because it is frightening to me how disconnected some kids seem to be from reality, Chemda gave a great example with the kid only accustomed to drawing on an ipad.
The story on "All American Muslim" was the saddest thing I've heard or read in a while, including the youtube comments on "One In a Million" which I checked out after you mentioned it on the show. btw I've heard it said that "politically incorrect" is the politically correct way to say "asshole", and it seems to hold true. All in all a great show, and I'm itching to get the VIP which I will after school finishes for the semester (I just don't trust myself with it) Happy Holidays |
