Lana Del Ray's performance on SNL was not far enough away from her original record to result in all of this harsh backlash. I think people just didn't get it rather than it not being a great performance. It has almost that Kate Bush feel to it which is quite eccentric and different.

I really feel for her as there have been heaps of worse performances all over tv talk and entertainment shows and to be honest compared to the majority of mainstream artists in the modern day, at least she sung live.

I heard Lana Del Ray's performance on SNL live when it was aired. To me the musical performances always suck. So when I heard her I said, "oh, that's what the kids are into today?" I knew as little about her as I knew about most of the other guests they have on.

Keith said the musical performances were the time you went to the bathroom. I remember as a kid that the musical performances were when I fell asleep. Now I'm back to that. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Never even heard of her but was listening to Who Charted and the guest on there says that the hipster hate on her stems from a satirical blog post about her, so the outrage is as manufactured as the hipsters claim she is. I still don't get it. I liked Ben's version of the song, though.

I actually like a few of Lana Del Rey's songs. But, as a musician, her singing on snl was terrible. Like she was too nervous to decide when to use falsetto and when not to.
