34/female/mother of a 15 year old boy who is also my worst enemy and best friend.
I am not voting in this poll. This sounds like a house with some shitty ass communication. Regardless of what he said after, the fact that they didn't discuss why she's doing these chores, and how she feels about of it ahead of time is a pretty big misstep. Also, teenagers are going to be ungrateful sometimes, it's in their nature, it's upsetting and it makes me want to pull my hair out. But letting my emotions rule my parenting choices always ends up making things worse. I think they are both dicks, but I also sympathize with them. Teenagers are hard work, being them and raising them. |

I thought the video was awesome but Chemda's going to be interviewing that kid in a couple of years in an episode entitled "Underage Porn Star Confesssions".
JFOD was amazing this episode - maybe even his funniest yet. As much as I've said for years there should be a video series where Keith and Jesse play roommates I'm now totally sold on the idea that JFOD should play a third. |

JFOD trys so hard and sounds so desperate to be liked/ loved that its off putting to me. I know he has his fans but I just don't get it. The shows where he talked about his depression were great though.

With the daughter
I am 40, female, and the mother of 2 kids ages 8 and 4. Of course what the daughter did was wrong. But the father's reaction really saddened me because I can't see that he will ever have a positive relationship with his daughter after publicly humiliating her like that. Would he rather have the satisfaction of embarrassing her or the chance to repair their relationship? He is the dad and she is the child. It is up to him to be the adult. My kids are sometimes "disrespectful." When they are, I don't humiliate them publicly. Because I hope to have a close, long-term, mutually respectful relationship with them as they grow into teenagers and adults. It sounds like this Dad had a pretty rough childhood - I wonder how much work he has done on himself around this. If it got to the point with his daughter that she is willing to disrespect him in this way, then I'm sorry, I find it unlikely that he has done a good job in raising her up to this point. Children don't learn respect by being shamed, humiliated, yelled at hit or otherwise treated like crap. There is a better way to parent, people. Read "Hold on to Your Kids," "Raising Your Spirited Child," or "Parenting Without Power Struggles," for more thoughts on raising children in a conscious way. I am by no means a perfect mom, but hearing that dad humiliate his daughter like that, even if she did do the wrong thing, made me really sad for both of them. I wonder where she learned to act like that...

Agreed. There is something entertaining in his mania, though. It's as if this rising energy crescendo he builds - totally takes over. Kinda funny and original. Kinda fuckin' scary. You get the impression that Chemda wouldn't mind being elsewhere and Keith is sizing John up like he might have to knock him out, but I appreciate John's honesty and candor. The episode he explains how he confused himself w/ Christ is one of my faves. I gotta become V.I.P, Baby!
