I think the amount of money paid for The Scream painting is obscene, but it really doesn't seem any worse to me than a terrible piece of shit movie like 'John Carter' being made for double that amount that nobody will remember in 2 years, let alone 50.

It's also pretty cliche. My middle school had a The Scream mural painted outside the auditorium.

At least Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust is fairly unknown.

And The Cardplayers is just middle east flaunting their mad oil cash. There was probably a harem trade involved as well.

Had the same reaction Chemda did to "it's like winter had no floor.." nearly spilt my coffee all over my keyboard.
When I was in college I took a poetry class that was taught by a guy who's won some gertrude stein award for his collected poetry. Needless to say, the only kind of poetry he wanted us to write was nonsensical shit. I remember choosing random shit like a mad lib and he loved it. Especially "with their poodle stares and treehouse looks". He made up all this stuff about childhood and how children can be cruel and I just nodded. The truth is I "wrote" that after I'd seen some commercial that had kids in a treehouse.
