The problem I have with discussions of social issues is there's a fine line between speaking out against social injustice and player hating. I don't know where the line lies though.

I thought it was just here in Africa that customer service had become a thing of the past. It's kind of sad to know that humanity seems to be reverting to preschool behaviour everywhere. If I greet a cashier here, I will usually be given a "drop dead" look right to my face without any reply. Makes me want to just leave my stuff and go. I actually got to a slightly more expensive supermarket just so I can get the friendly service there.

Here, if we complain to a manager we usually get a "What do you want me to do about it?" type of response. It's sickening, no one takes responsibility of anything anymore.

Is this the new way of saying "class warfare?" Don't even start with the "you're just jealous of success" meme. It's bullshit. CEOs get paid multi-million dollar golden parachutes after they destroy the company -- they get paid to go away. Banksters were getting enormous bonuses again after they got bailed out with our tax dollars because they nearly destroyed the world's ecomony. That's certainly the hallmark of a meritocracy right there. Companies are fucking over their workers in the name of profits. Yeah, it's legal. But they can't expect loyalty and they certainly can't expect respect.

And unions are being attacked with a vengence. (it doesn't take much research to look into the circumstances as to why unions were started in the first place...because the working class had no rights...there wasn't a middle class, it was just rich and workers) I'm not into huge political consperacies, but I can't believe how much power lobbiests have and I think it is pretty much a given that the general population doesn't have much control over the government anymore. I'm proud of my two MN senators (Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken) and our governor and heck, even the Minneapolis mayor because I think being more local allows them to speak their minds a bit more...they aren't as controlled by their party. They talk frankly, know that they need to compromise to get anything done, and seem generally logical in their arguments. And it is SAD that this isn't the norm in politics.

And as to what Lizzie said...I blame the human desire for drama. I think we have such an obsession with reality tv and it is easier to just disappear from the real world and go into the Sims or our video games or texting or chatrooms that people are forgetting how to interact in real life. And I'm damn serious about this.

My friends tend to be 10 years older than me because I can connect with them more. The people my age, in general, scare me. They have no direction for their lives, and don't care. There is a general helplessness and selfishness in the culture. And I know it has always been there, but what used to be the issue of just one demographic is now permiating all of us...it seems to me that it can be boiled down to boredom and lack of responsibility.

I had some huge laughs with KATG over the last few years but stopped listening a few weeks ago as I found it a bit self indulgent, now I just look to see if there is a good guest (Jesse Joyce, Patrice, Mike Lawrence, etc.) before downloading the episode.
Was overjoyed to see Ray Devito was on this one so eagerly downloaded the show, got 20 minutes in before it became all about Keith complaining about not being accepted by his peers etc. etc. then lost interest.
I wish they would go back to just focusing on the guests, when they are on point they are the funniest show on the net.

I'll admit, it did feel a bit as though Ray took a backseat in this one.

(Re-listening at the office after listening live and I think it only felt that way because I came in at the rant that time. I'm already forgiven, but I admit I was wrong.)
