not to say every trust fund hipster in Williamsburg feels this way but I's a friend who always thought Vinyl was better but this guy had thousand dollar turntables in the 90's. He felt CD's sound harsh as it's a series of absolutes 1 or 0 as a digital representation of music "what if the musician meant for a .5 and all you have is 1 or 0" he would say. when he does listen to digital music he wants flac or in a pinch 320 kbps MP3 files.

"Most generalities are wrong."
Lol. EDIT: But for real. I hope that Danny does get McNally'd/Jeremy'd. He's a fantastic guest. EDIT2: I know this statement will contrast with my previous edit somewhat, but I really dont like these feel-y shows. It would have been a much shorter segment if Danny and Keith just said "BOO HOO. A BLOO HOO HOO". Last edited by helllomoto; 04-23-2013 at 09:54 AM. |

So records are bullshit and aren't selling well, but everyone buying them is only doing so because they are following the crowd?

Records & Jesus H Christ
I own vinyl and have owned vinyl and a working record player since I was 14. (I'm 32.) It started with buying 7" punk rock singles and now I buy the occasional album when I like the art or it's a limited edition but mostly I shop at thrift stores and street sales (because where else would I find a Specials live album for $5?)
How long does Chemda think this has been a fad? I DO play vinyl when friends come over. I break out my records often. I grew up with it and I currently have a record player that will convert to mp3's. I've had it for about two years and have yet to convert anything. (Maybe that says more about my laziness than my like-like of vinyl...) E-fucking-nough with Danny and his bed and everyone making Keith feel like he's being an asshole. He's not. It's all fine and good for him to have an opinion on anything until someone's feelings get hurt but like everyone on the show agreed, don't put it out there then. Whether he is right or wrong, I don't get how all of these people never understand that Keith will talk about things you say to him (or the entire Internet in Danny's case) on the show. Was it really suggested at one point that Keith censor himself on his own fucking show? Come fucking on already.

I believe Chemda is exaggerating her vinyl observation in order to be funny, and it might be accurate with a lot of the kids living in Williamsburg. But I think one of the reasons records are making a come back is because people want to support the music they like by actually purchasing it instead of ripping it or using spotify. The download codes that come with vinyl, unlike CDs, allows for it to be mobile as well. People ripping on record owners is becoming the new version of the people who shit on Mac users while always acting like it's the other way around. |
