Dogs
I was never a dog person and never had a dog growing up. Recently though we decided to get a dog, and we got a German Shephard puppy from a shelter. He was the runt of the litter. He's been with a year now and we now have a 90 pound toddler on our hands but he's the sweetest, kindest animal we've had. I can see you being a great owner Keith.

I'm all for adopting animals. I adopted my cat 12 years ago from North Shore and never regretted it.
On the other hand, my father is a controlling hard ass who never let me have pets growing up. He hates hair, shoes on carpet, hands on walls, etc. As soon as my mother was diagnosed with cancer, we started researching hypoallergenic small dog breeds. We went to a breeder in CT and got her a purebred Havanese for 2k. The breeder made my mom fill out an application in advance, she was extremely selective over who she sold to and wanted to make sure her puppies were going to good homes. Today, my father loves that little damn dog. Just wanted to share one good reason (and the only reason IMO) why a person would go to a breeder over a shelter. I say shelter, then breeder, and NO to puppy mills, pet stores, etc. And I will also admit I've been bothered since Keith shared his story about the bully. I was bullied in high school by people who used to be my good friends but until recently I never actually admitted outloud I was indeed bullied. It wasn't really the psychical bulling, but more of the mental/emotional petty bullshit girls do. It fucked me up and to this day it makes me leery of being friends with other women - it fucked up my ability to trust. While I'm not a fighter, part of me really hopes one day I can run into one of these bitches and let them know all the rumors and petty innuendo was due to their jealousy, their issues, their insecurities and whether they realized it or not they made my daily HS experience miserable, especially junior and senior year. Its not something you can easily get over and while it is so easy for some to say "be the bigger person and ignore it/don't do anything"....sometimes you just cannot. I understood where Keith was coming from 100%. Until you hear the bully admit what they did was wrong or apologize or accept fault/blame, you see the bully and it's a fresh wound all over again. Sorry to get so deep. This is what happens when I'm sober. Fuck! |

Although I disagree with the last part, a girl wanting to do something sexual with me isn't going to make her any more or less attractive. Its all about the girl, not what she wants to do to me. |

For fuck's sake. Just get the dog you want. Or you could listen to the humane society whackadoos and get the dog you don't want.
On a separate note; What came first, the bully or the nerd? |
