Unfortunately that aspect was going to happen regardless of Manning's status as transgendered. Like the woman I overheard in the office today -- people literally see Manning as a "spy" who "gave information to our enemies." That's where the story has been the whole time.

I have never regarded Manning as a spy. Manning is a whistle blower who exposed war crimes that were committed by the United States Government.

I also consider her a whistleblower, however that has not been the popular public perception of her, and hasn't been how the MSM is reporting the story.

Keith recommended the documentary 'We Steal Secrets' which is an incredible source for all things Bradley/Chelsea/Formerly Known As/ Manning, Julien Assange, WikiLeaks, etc.

It's on Netflix.

Also, I just hope Edward Snowden's info has greater impact on peoples unfamiliar with government wrong doing.


There is a senator, (name escapes me) that is directly involved with ok-ing NSA requests, who has commented on PRISM/NSA phone records as "This is just the tip of the iceberg."

Journalist Greenwald has a stash of Snowden intel and is releasing it slowly. This is great because it stays in the media, (as best it can) and stays relevant.

Did I miss something that he released that constitutes a war crime? I saw the Collateral Murder video, and while tragic, it doesn't rise to the level of war crime. Everything else I read about Manning's leaks was juicy diplomatic cables. As near as I can tell, he released nothing substantial one way or the other.

Snowden on the other hand, I can totally see why he would be lauded as a hero. Not that I agree.
