So moving

This episode shows the incredible depth of beauty possible in podcasting. The love between Micheal and Chemda is so warm and alive it breaks my heart to think it had to be born from such unfair, needless pain. She is so strong to be able to be such a wonderful person despite being raised with such callous disregard. It hurts my parenting bones deeply to think anyone could go their whole life and never feel their mother's pride but when its someone who has actually built the most amazing podcast out there its especially awful. We are all super proud of you Chemda, fuck all that other bullshit.

Personally, I have learned more about how to be a good parent to my children through Keith and Chemda, than - arguably - my own parents.

I can recall the absolute shit storm that exploded between my parents and I some 20 years ago when I made the decision to leave home and move halfway across the country. For a time, I was blamed for tearing the family apart because of my selfish decision to go out and start a life of my own and I recall a long period where I didn't talk to my parents - particularly my mother. Of course, the family never fell apart but, even now, despite what I have achieved - that which I was told I never would achieve (house, family, career, achieving certain dreams) - there is a certain level of resentment that I didn't stay in my home town and remain geographically close to my parents.

Such frank discussion has set me on a path to considering my own upbringing, which had more than a little head fuckery sprinkled through it, and I've tried to do pretty much the opposite thing that my parents, Keith's and Chemda's parents, did.

Likewise, I am heartened by the obvious love, respect and enlightenment that exists between Chemda and Michael and I am sure that is of great comfort to them in what must be a pretty shitful situation.

Champagne radio guys.

I'm glad to hear that you are finally about to take that step and just cut your parents off. I'm sure they love you but they don't seem to care for you as a person and that's just wrong. Maybe it's the idea of Lauren being your true family. Maybe it's the way you see how other people love you without even knowing you personally. But it sounds like you are finding peace with the fact that you will not be friends with your parents.
I speak for myself and I'm sure many of your listeners feel the same: I feel like you are a truly good person, you are an amazing singer, a fantastic interviewer, so funny and so charming and so hot and that hair and this is sounding more and more creepy so I'll just shut up.

I'm sure Keith is nice too.

Its hard to hear chemda cry about the situation between her and her parents I think a lot of us see her as a big sister or very close friend just the vibe she gives all of us. I hope for her talking it out having Michael around and the encouragement of the katg family that she will find a way to work it out however that ends up.

Great episode. Coming from a divorced family with a dad who is a recovering alcoholic that never grew up and a mom who was fine with me living with my grandparents most of the time I could relate a bit. Just makes me want to be the best parent I can for my daughter.

I enjoy Chemda and Michael's relationship as well.

You've been making the right decisions so far, Chemda, and you've got an amazing podcasting business.

I'm glad you have your brothers, Keith, Lauren, your fans, etc. to support you.

I know I'm not expressing anything that hasn't already been said by the previous posts but wanted to throw in my message of support for Chemda as well. Your strength is inspirational. You know who you are, what you believe, and where you'll draw the line. The strength of character it takes to be able to walk away from a one-sided parent/child relationship when you've spent a lifetime trying to live up to unreasonable expectations is immense but it sounds like you were able to do it. So happy you have the support of so many people but especially your brothers because only they would really understand exactly what environment you all grew up in.
