This may be a weak analogy, but this is how I see it.

People are like computers. You have the hardware, (physical body) and the software, (hormones etc)

An old PC can run iTunes. This doesn't make it look like a Mac, but it functions internally like one.

A body that has tits/ vag/ uterus may look like a woman, but it's running similar male testosterone/ chemicals as a man.

I wish I knew more about biology to explain this better. Ultimately, there's tons of people who identify as gay or lesbian. Tons who identify as trans. Maybe the ability to understand that you aren't this way, but others are is what you lack..? Empathy for the human condition and whatnot.
