agreed on both points. its more disapointing than offensive. but having a "you're a racist!" attitude towards anyone who slips up, isn't fast enough to call out another's faux pas, makes a shitty remark....
if someone makes a racist comment its really hard to find the right words to make them question thier own behavior instead of making them feel attacked. the feeling of being attacked is what breeds this ignorance and xenophobia.
as a questioneer i question this binary way of thinking; if you either are or aren't a racist (or sexist or bigot, etc) then how will people ever stop?
isn't the us vs them philosophy kind of one of the roots of the problem.

As Keith was saying in the ep, what's happening in this movie isn't what Blackface actually was. It wasn't just darkening your skin and calling yourself black and then everyone lol's. It's the whole insulting play of putting on the persona of a brainless, powerless buffoon and using that act to say "this is what all black people are."

The fact that no one in Simone's family endorses this movie, added to their choice of actress and who the people are making it, leads me to think this will be terrible.
