So, yes Sparrow - a benign mass can be considered a tumour. Usually, they're encapsulated and, like I said, their cell structures are well defined.

A tumour can be confidently considered malignant by Stage III, although Stage II tumours can go either way.

That Chemda's mass is classed as unstageable at this point is kinda encouraging. I'd really like to see what the MRI shows. The images an MRI can yield are incredible and it'll give the team an accurate picture of the mass' structure and whether it has infiltrated into her heart or lungs. If it's encapsulated too - that's a big plus also.

Benign means that the mass will stay mainly in one place and not spread to other parts of the body to build new masses there (as cancer often does) or grow into the neighboring tissue (like the doctors were worried that Chemdas would because it's next to the heart)
It still can grow and get big and needs to come out but is more manageabe.

Pretty much. They are a space occupying lesion and they grow locally, pushing against structures rather than infiltrating them. Their cellular activity is slow too so they don't differentiate in the way that highly active cancer cells do.

That is not to say that they can't "switch" but well defined cellular material generally don't.

Thank you Kerryn for pointing out a tiny bit of skinny shaming, though I wish you had talked about it a bit more.

Such a great point that body acceptance is for people of all sizes, not just fat people, and if you are what someone considers "too skinny" then you are anorexic. Or if you are skinny for an unhealthy reason or can't gain weight, at least you aren't fat, only fat people can complain.

All walks of life should be represented in media. If someone struggling gets something outta of it - great. But these people don't seem to understand the cause of obesity, or how best to solve it.
