Allow me to play the devil's advocate for a moment:

I dont think that the contract is all that bad. Its probably not right for keith and the girl, but its good for podcasters with smaller audiences. By combining their "forces", its easier to say to advertisers, "If you advertise with us, you can reach X numbers of listeners". X being a large number, much larger than any standard radio audience. Of course, the organiser of the group gets a cut of the advertising revenue, but the podcaster sees income that he would otherwise not see at all. No podcaster is going to get rich from this.

Where the contract sucks is the ownership and rights bullshit. For g-d sakes let the podcasters continue to podcast any way they see fit. If they choose to abuse the sponsors, drop them from your program.

Its a good idea, banding together to create these huge audiences that are attractive to advertisers, but its a dumb idea to try and steal the podcasters' souls.

Well said. I agree. While KATG were reading the contract they even covered where it states in the contract that the contract can be modified. It seems to me that the contract can be adjusted to whatever both parties can agree to. If you don't agree and can't come to agreement then you don't sign. Why make fun of the people that have signed. They agreed to whatever their contract said.

as far as the numbers, you asking isnt a reason for anyone to lay it out for you. someone went through the trouble to get you the numbers, you didnt accept it. what proof do we have that you will believe any numbers from any source? what proof do you have that you arent the sub100 IQ guy working for YAHOO. prove to me you dont work there. prove to me thats you.

i want a biography with independant collaboration.
i want proof that you can count to as high a number as KATG has downloads a month, i dont believe you understand numbers that high.

without this proof, and in the next hour or two, it means you are a liar.

numbers from libsyn would be reliable or from company related to libsyn that has access to libsyn statistics. Saying that Kieth and Cheddar have 250,000 downloads a month WITHOUT GIVING ANY PROOF or link is really not serious. I need some proof or good link.

youre an intelligent poster, sir, but i take exception here. this show is an editorial, its all about expressing opinions. why argue that an editorial show shouldnt criticize people who do what they believe to be outrageous things? its an endless arguement with no more merit than argueing they shouldnt.

they chose to, thats about as deep as you can expect to get without erupting into a nonproductive flame war.

the show belongs to them, and unlike at least some podshow people, they have exclusive control over content.

A couple of things... Anyone who said that skit on DSC today wasn't funny is just Adam bashing and that's it. They're poking fun of themselves, which is better than getting all pissy and taking it seriously. I think KatG should take up Podshow on the offer of a trip to SF, on Podshow's dime, as Adam said. What can it hurt? Hear what they have to say and let them hear what you have to say.

Secondly, if anyone on this board bothered to listen to any other podcasts they'd know that Comic Strip Blogger is notorious for mud-slinging on forums and only came over to do so. He doesn't believe half the shit he writes and enjoys the response from all of you that are overly defensive. I believe I read the word "Troll" somewhere back on page 938. I wouldn't go that far, but at least he's entertaining (I'm assuming 'he').
