Chemda, I hope you find Germany better than France. I lived there 15 years ago and I think you'll be able to comunicate much better. The food is better, the people actually value their tourists and are very willing to help you out.

It does still smell like shit in the farming towns though.

They haven't mentioned how they're acheiving the new sound quality. There doesn't seem to be any awkward lag either. Is it Vonage? Skype? Something even better? Inquiring techno-geeks need to know!

I think they are doing it the old fashion way.

They record their conversation from Keet Computer, at the same time Chemda is recording her voice in an MP3 format.

Then the unlucky one gets sent the MP3 from the other and then sync them together using audacity.

30 min is easier to do than an hour.

I am staying in Arizona as part of my working visit to the US. These might be specific to the area (please tell me if they are as I don't want to be put off by the country as a whole because of one state) so I apologise if they don't apply to your partiuclar state, but here is my list of current pros and cons in the spirit of critiquing countries.

Pros:
- Plenty of sport on TV
- Beautiful hot days with no flies!!
- Toilets are low
- Good looking girls are really good looking
- lots of swimming pools
- that date show where they caption the people whilst they go on a date, genius
- Plenty of sport on TV
- Makes me feel patriotic about my home the land down under

Cons:
- Cheese is orange and ruins 3/4 of every meal cos everything seems to have cheese on it
- Toilets are half full of water, they flush by filling up then sucking and there is no half flush or when you only take a piss
- Food is too greasy or too sweat
- Waitresses are only friendly for the two seconds they serve you cos their time is money, where I am from they don't work for tips so they can chat for a little longer...at the expense of food arriving later
- Water is weird, makes your skin feel slimey
- Funny accents
- The price is shown before tax to trick you into thinking it is cheaper
- Your money is stupidly all the same colour
- A lot of fat people
- George W photos on airport walls in LA

Actually a pizza place here advertised that they used New York filtered water so maybe the water in Arizona is known to be bad.

Where are you from Tyrone?

My only complaint about NYC is that you never really know how much something is going to cost unless you do the math. Everybody was really nice to me and the food was okay. Cheddar is not that bad, it does not have much taste but it's eatable. Oh, another complaint : you've so many commercials that it's almost painful to watch a movie or a TV show.

I've also spent 6 months in Blacksburg, Virginia, and honestly, there aren't too many differences between our countries. People are friendlier in the US, everybody just seems happier than in Western Europe.

I am from Australia where we have nothing but the best of things like the "half flush" on the toilet, a great variety of food, and aussie rules football. I am however high on patrioticism due to homesickness, this will be the longest I have been away from my girlfriend since we started and my right shoulder is feeling the burden of the extra workload, so forgive my bias towards my beautiful country of origin.

I also have not travelled anywhere else in the world so maybe everywhere else is far worse and I should be thankful for the luxuries America does have like New York filtered water.
