Keith! So glad you're alive. Chemda and Andrea were great. Also Andrea's impersonation of you is spot on. SPOT ON!

Get them in the Kieth position in the bathroom. Lay down some dry rice for their knees. Then fill 'em up with warm water and tell them to hold it. Tickle them a little too. Repeat until they're better behaved.

Constipation - Vicodin

I don't see any mention of this on the thread and it didn't come up on the episode. Constipation like that is a really common side effect of long term Vicodin use (or long term use of any opioid). There's even a prescription medication specifically for opioid constipation. Common Drugs and Medications to Treat Opiate Pain Medication causing Severe Constipation

Just Insights If Anyone Is Interested

Keith, eating the apple stimulated your intestines to push things along and make room. Obviously when you're constipated and there is a road block, the pressure is painful. Common causes of constipation to think about going forward: alcohol and caffeine due to their affect on the kidneys resulting in dehydration, opioids due to their affect on the intestines in slowing motility, and also water absorbing foods like pizza dough or other bread products. The rectum and anus are the most common areas (narrowest areas) of the intestinal tract and subject to tearing. Frank red blood indicates the source is below the stomach, whereas dark, tarry stool indicates blood with a source in or above the stomach since the blood has been digested.

The solution is balancing out any of the above with water, fiber, and stool softeners as needed. Also during recovery, just foods that digest easily and are easy to pass (soft diet). I know about this because it has happened to me a few times. The first time I was shocked and went in to the ER and was told to schedule a colonoscopy to look for any possible signs of cancer. Since then the pattern of what I ate and drank before it happens is always the same.
