I like you Kerry, but stop with the Patton Oswald judging.
How long should you suffer? It's not like he killed his wife or cheated on her.

He is not young anymore, and love isn't easy to find.
It's not like he has forgotten about his wife.
He opened his heart to someone else in addition. For his daughter it is also better if he isn't only sitting at home and crying. As far I know he suffers from depression. A depressed father, maybe drinking or taking drugs who doesn't want to go out with the daughter isn't great.
Love gives you energy and hope. Energy to travel, energy to do new stuff. And for the daughter is also good to see there are good things to come after this tragedy.

So stop it. People are in poly relationships when their partner is alive, and we are fine with it. Why is this so bad?
He isn't replacing his wife, he found someone in addition who he loves.
Should I die now, my husband can go and find a new wife 6 months in. I would hate it for him to stay alone forever after it.

see, the conventional wisdom in my understanding is to avoid those kind of drastic life changes within a year of something like the death of your spouse. raises red flags, i don't know.

I don't know, I think you would have to be in his life to know and judge. But then there is that word "Judge" why judge him. He seems happy hey maybe he needed a studio before but things dragged on then his wife passed and well now he found this new lady who really gets him so he doesn't need a studio after all but he has a new wife to help him out. It's all a fucking mess and I want to die.

Not really don't call 911 I'm just upset about change and I can't help myself.
I hope I never need a studio it seems like a lot of fucking hassle and pain. Now a shop would be nice but it has to be a shop in my home not a completely separate shop that I have to pay rent for and maintain. No just a nice shop were I can build a shelf now and then. ... Yeah I don't know what I'm saying either...

It's best to avoid major life changes like losing a loved one.

I think the guest should really give Patton a break. Especially since she clearly didn't know who the new wife was. Meridith Salinger. She was natty gain and Laurie Diamond. I'm surprised he waited 15 months.

Ah yes, the sexy 15-year-old Natty Gann. (I can only assume how old your other character reference was.)
