I vote for more Harriet Tubman statues.

Heck, I'd love statues of random enslaved Americans. More Geronimo and Sacajawea statues. ((I would say more statues of Native Americans but I feel like that's asking to be offended by some white persons interpretation of a stereotypical Native....so I add the caveat... Only to be created by a Native American.)) More Mexican cowboy statues. More Asian railroad worker statues. Everyone is problematic but only a few of us are slave owning/civil war startng/child raping problematic. MLK cheating on his wife ain't reason enough to deny a statue. |

Oh. Absolutely. The man revolutionized an entire country. Not to mention his stance on non-violence. His contribution is endlessly valid.

I gottta say. Keith being legit Hungarian/ Jew/ whatever #MindBlown Thought for sure he was IRISH!!! Ah wells. His super-human [hungarian] skills and the contribution to MNIK/psychology/ tremendous binge drinking insight...it remains

I think what Mermaid is trying to say is Asian slaves built America's railroad thus built America. Black slaves literally built American wealth.

Either way. I disagree. Too much too late. The notion of trying to balance, in a capitalist system, is fundamentally impossible. I admire the fairness but it's essentially PC empty feel-good-ery |

Pc empty feel-goodry for white people.

A lot of us aren't white. It would mean much more to us, the descendents. Just because it doesn't fix anything, doesn't mean it won't mean anything. |

I like statues. I like it when there's a little plaque. A bit of history written down. DEFINITELY like when there's a date. You're usually waiting around. Trying to kill time. Then you go, "Oh. In 1892 they had shit to do." A hundred years later. We're all staring into screens.

I'm indifferent. Make statues. Or don't. Either way our descendents are staring into a screen. Can the statues be incorporated into some kind of iPhone game? Like Candy Crush but with immigrants and such..? |
