Betsy Ross flag:

1. It comes from a time of slavery in the United States.
2. Some extremist groups have appropriated the symbol for themselves (although according to the ADL, not many - I'm guessing more of them will now).

Personally, I don't have a problem with questioning the symbol or Nike's decision to pull the shoes. Americans have a real problem when it comes to idolizing the Founding Fathers and the revolution while doing zero self-reflection about the ugly side of those days, and it's one reason that we still have major cultural problems with racism to this day. We can't even admit that our early days of slaughtering indigenous people and slavery was evil and wrong.

I have lived at my house for 4 years. I will still get lost if I go another way home. I keep a map in the truck in case my phone dies. I feel your pain Keith.

I know nothing about the Betsy Ross flag, but I know the two Facebook "friends" that posted a bitch ass post about "coming out" as trump supporters and feeling persecuted for their beliefs have changed their profile picture to the flag, so it's guilty by association for me.
