My family was from a similar region close to yours, that doesn't exist any longer. I found this while building my tree on ancestry and the region my family was from kept coming up as "Galicia" on all these documents... I was only familiar with that as a region in Spain, so I was confused. We're very clearly not Spanish. I learned that it is also a region in eastern Europe with Hungary, Poland and that area.

But my family were never weird liars about where we were from - they easily would say "Poland, Austria, or Hungary depending on the year." Your dad insists on being a fucking evasive weirdo about things. "well son it's not so simple." What is he trying to hide or feel superior about?!

my family's weird liar moment? My dad (adopted) was told most of his life that he was Italian, and he was dark because he was Sicilian. He was half black. He was only told the truth near the end of his life, when he was sick and desperately looking for answers about his hereditary health. I've confirmed WITH FLYING COLORS that i am indeed african american.
