Hannah is very charming and funny.
Also I dont find the extreme stories of hers so entertaining because its pretty serious and potentially life threatening. Maybe thats a sign that Im not codependent? Im not attracted to that. I want to be far away. Like with the relationship. I hope for her that things will work out, but as Chemda pointed out she is doing what her parents did. What could go wrong. |

No chips in Al Anon. There are more AA meetings by far. Not many people know about al Anon or understand what it is. I think a symbol is nice but what would you get it for? Alanonics use AA terminology. I’ve heard people say “I had a slip”. They are usually referring to getting involved in ways that aren’t healthy. Newsy sort of described a little with his trip to Florida. Family, for example, can bait you into unnecessary arguments and actions. If you take the bait, you “slipped”. But there’s no chip because there’s no physical item that we need to be putting down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I haven't been to alanon, but had an alcoholic/addict parent. Didn't know about alanon at the time.
Now as an adult I can see the parts of the program that still apply to me mentally. Being an empathetic person, and also being a "fixer" type of personality, a big mantra for me to repeat a lot is "I cannot fix people. Their life is up to them." |
