I dont even live in America and that week there was no escape from that topic. It was everywhere in every publication besides pharma news. It's on the Berlin wall now I've seen!
Every podcast talked about it.
Two days in I had enough and every take was taken but still it was everywhere.

I didn't want to think.about it anymore but it always came back from.somewhere.
I'm not superwoman. How I could not have an opinion on it I don't know.

It *is* surprising how tone death the defense was tho. Like the hair thing. And the black friends thing. The fact that they didn't acknowledge their lack of knowledge. They chose to pretend that they have all the information they need instead. Even denied saying things they actually did say. (I was tempted to go get timestamps for receipts, cause they are there and i heard it too. That person isnt crazy like they tried to paint them)

Yes, using black friends to imply that the conclusion you and your friends came to are the only possible conclusions. And it's not possible for there to be differences within a community and for those differences to be worthy of the same consideration.

Everyone gets it with women. Different women are offended by different things and they likely have a good reason for it.

Just cause the women/friends you ask are not offended by something doesn't mean that women who are don't have a point and shouldn't be considered.

And no one gets to decided what is the absolute right answer. Especially people who aren't women.

Cause people who aren't women do not have the lived experiences to speak with authority in any direction.

Also no one has the lived experience of an other person.
Being a woman is one group I'm a part of.
Others would be immigrant, being a mother, being an only child, being from Eastern Europe...
If I add my groups together there will be hardly anyone with the same experience who really can know my life. I know no such person for example.

Some of this discussion makes the US sound so insanely divided to an outsider... How does anyone even function? How do people even see each other as human and just have a normal discussion or debate? How are people not terrified to actually look at or learn about each other's cultures?
