It's like taking a few words out of the beginning of a quote and claiming that's the whole thing, just like Yogi Berra.

I was more addressing Keith's long-standing condemnation of Shakespeare at large as being pointless and stupid. He wasn't just talking about the opening line. He's also said that the end of Hamlet is a copout ending because "everybody dies. The end." I guess by that standpoint then "300" also had a bullshit ending, because everyone died in that movie, too.

Even worse than this is when people use quotes and have no idea where they came from. For instance "it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all". Horrid how this is tossed around after someone's girlfriend dumped him or a guy doesn't love you back.

Oh the whole thing is fuckin' excellent!
To die,--to sleep;--
To sleep! perchance to dream:--ay, there's the rub;
Ever notice how it echoes Paradise Lost?

Milton:
For who would loose,
Though full of pain, this intellectual being,
Those thoughts that wander through Eternity,
To perish rather, swallowed up and lost
In the wide womb of uncreated night,
Devoid of sense and motion?
The Bard:
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely...
The pangs of despis'd love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would these fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,--
The undiscover'd country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns,--puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
Fuckin' Bard. Roger Bacon or not! It's no wonder the motherfucker's locked in our language forever.

Different reasons for not offing oneself, but still.

USO

Hey Keith, during the show you were talking about visiting veterans or maybe finding a way to help out.

My wife and I donate to the USO, (Gunner, let us know if this is a good idea) one of the ways we donate is by donating to the USO phone home program which gives soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan phone cards so they can call home, but people can also donate time by helping out with the care packages that are sent, etc.

Also on the USO site you can see celebrities like Drew Carey and Charles Barkley and my favorite Toby Keith (not because I like country music because I don't) who has been to Iraq, something like 18 times and on USO concert tours 5 times, with the most recent tour early in May, and the best part he is a democrat that really doesn't support George Bush!, but he does really support our troops, (oh and he is from Oklahoma)

Anyway, if you want to mobilize the KATG listeners to help someone out, I think that our military is a great place to start. I can't stand those stupid ass magnetic ribbons on the back of cars that say "support our troops" what do they really do to support our troops, other than buy a magnetic ribbon?

Here is the USO site.
