Um... fuck you too?

do you?
Yes, I do. Maybe it isn't going to change the mind of someone like Keith, or Mr. Bicester or you, but if you believe in something strong enough, state your side. Don't be afraid of what others might think of you.

You take the chance that you are able to bring to light some of the real problems that are in the world. A chance to interject some other thoughts into the mind of someone that may not have thought of the subject in any other light.

I understand his point, see above. Ringing a dead doorbell doesn't equate with joking about universal issues such as rape, violence or murder.

Neither does joking about black people living beyond their means, Mexicans driving conversion vans, French people eating stinky cheese or Canadians saying 'eh.

Stereotyping can be a funny humor, the other shows an utter lack of respect for human life.

this isn't even really an argument because he doesn't really disagree with you.. you're just arguing different unrelated points.
I'm not trying to change the show, I'm trying to say that there is nothing wrong with stating your point of view. Yes, we are on unrelated points when explained the way you stated it.

No I didn't, because I laught at jokes about molestation (Priest ones are especially fun) I laugh about murder, I laugh about everything. I don't appreciate it when someone proclaims what is and isn't funny. I'll decide that for myself. And just as you have your right to find these things universally abhorrent and shout them from the rooftops, I have the right to call you a hypocrite and tell you to shove it. Ain't the internet grand.

Again, you missed my point about Coconut.

If you go back and read it slower and louder, you'll see I wasn't talking about the jokes about Coconut.

I don't care what YOUR point about coconut is. My point is that of the things that in this thread have been Declared Universally Abhorrent, I laugh at jokes about all of them. That's MY point. So I still stand that if someone wants to bitch about the programming and how it offends them, then I will bitch about how their thin skin offends me.

Because the internet was made for bitching about tings.

Don't forget abortion jokes. Those are hilarious, only because it shows respect for human life.

He isn't nor do I think he's implied that - rather he's argued against censorship - to wit, admonishing the censor.

So without getting into layers and layers of specific situations and anecdotes.. i think a good strong example is...

all things seem to be fair game, except one.. rhian and lupus.

Moral of the story.. put up or shut up.

All previous stories re: Rhian were "Oh look at the funny drama stories this chick comes up with" "oh wait something serious" OMG ALL YOU SHUT UP"

Skepticism has always been exercised, until someone yelled ILLNESS

spooky shrug

Dude - your post is so flawed I would be amazed if you meant it seriously.

Complaining to Keith isn't productive? How so? I respect Keith and Chemda's ability to read feedback and to weigh its merits - but you think it's "it's pointless." I disagree.

As for the issue - it isn't "that people shouldn't do it because it's not really helping anything" (how the fuck do 99% of any threads here "help" anything?) rather just like it's your right to comment on her posts, it's Blitzgal's right to react to what was said on the show:

This really pissed me off. I don't remember if Keith or Brolo said it....no man should be able to explain away a MURDER by claiming "the bitch had it coming."
Two messages later she wrote,

Done deal.

But then your sageness stepped in with statements that feed well into your poor analogy:

This section is "show talk" ie: talk about the show - an open door. Blitzgal "talked," explained why she was upset. But you, on the other hand, took it upon yourself to tell her not to ring the doorbell, to "keep it to [her]self".

ie: You are closing the door. You censor by telling her not to even ring the bell.

Further, you defined the show as "set up to be honest at the risk of offending every type of person" A flawed presumption, equating honesty with offense.

And one shouldn't complain when they're offended because someone's gonna be offended every time? How the fuck does that make any sense?

This is a forum - ie: a public gathering place for us to have discussion. Blitzgal never asked that they "change the show" but you have stated that she not have posted because it suits your sense of wrong.

As much enjoyment as I've gotten from the "New Avatar" threads, I'd trade 1,000 of those posts for one like Blitzgal's. Even if she were in the minority or a lone voice, she advances discourse and therefore for "a forum," she's quite productive.
