Splitting cheques is bloody stoopid. I've always been with people who get the full cheque add the tip and split it evenly. I'm one of the poorest people in my group of friends and I don't usually drink alcohol so I always end up over paying but it's just plain rude to be adding things up and saying "*sigh* I didn't have any drinks so I should only pay 1/16th of the bill. I don't see why I should pay for you drunks..." Get a life people.

If I'm out I will always make sure I more than cover my part of the bill If say $42 I drop $50 .I feel guilty if walked out owing someone.
If someone shouts me a meal or something I always try an return the the treat with something of equal value I don't drink booze but I will shout a round if its my turn $2 for a coke $5 for a beer . It doesn't bother me. And I end up driving there drunk asses home I just hate feeling I owe someone something. I will shout a round of drinks at a bar if someone else is taking me out for dinner . My girlfriends sisters boyfriend has short arms and deep pockets He never steps forward to pay for anything. |

what is the definition of a nerd again? I have a feeling that first adopters of podcasting all have a little bit of nerd in them. |

I definately think the splitting bills things depend on where you are at... in my town, which is much smaller, it's almost always split up and the waitress asks ahead of time... that's not to say people don't know how to handle it if it's not, but I do have friends who do get upset about it when they go somewhere (usually larger cities) and they don't split it up.

Also, in reference to the wrestler Virgil, this is a popular picture amoungst the wrestling forums that shows how much of a lame convention whore he is:
![]() And for anyone else that went, did you see Ted Dibiase "The Million Dollar Man" with him at all? His sign advertised that Dibiase was with him at DragonCon but everytime I checked he wasn't there which is making me think he's just advertising Dibiase there with him for some credibility (Dibiase wasn't advertised for DragonCon at all). Also, there was a wrestling show on Friday that I had some friends wrestle at and they all mentioned that Virgil wasn't even invited to wrestle on the show. He's pretty much a joke in the wrestling world at this point. |

When I go out with my work friends we start off with rounds and then the people who are short of cash when its their turn start going hrm ummm whos round is it???? Its yours you cheap ass!!
If its a dinner thing with my parents, my boyfriend gets to the counter first to pay for us, and my sisters boyfriend hangs back waiting for the cheque to be paid the wanker. Dependent on the situation we shout each other etc but theres always the weird hanging around by my sisters boyfriend. If you cant afford to pay your own way when you go out DONT go !!!

when I was attending NA meetings in queens, going out to the diner afterwards was the thing to do -- and you NEVER wanted to be the one with the check at the end. It was always the big tough motorcycles guys that would leave without leaving enough for the check.
Going to a diner with a big group of recovering people is never good for your pocketbook. And as I recall -- it was kinda rude to even ask to have seperate checks even at diners. Last edited by HeyAnne; 09-05-2007 at 11:49 AM. |

A lot of people from the West Coast and the Southwest claim to be nice, or laid back, but to me it comes across as passive-aggressive. Keep your veiled disgust to yourself, it's fake. As a native New Yorker I'm convinced that the way we communicate is the best way, it is in your face so you know where you stand with someone. People from the Midwest are like the Canadians of the U.S., I have met so many sincere Midwesterners. This goes without saying, but these are generalizations and there are always exceptions to the rule.
