Metal & Punk
I saw a documentary here in the UK that said that Judas Priest was the first to wear the leather and chains, and that the lead singer got that look from the S&M sub-culture within the gays. Maybe the Hair bands and their makeup and stuff also came from the same.

Besides 95% of the bands being dog shit, the vast majority of those bands also aren't the original bands at all. That's why they make it a big deal, for example, that Jani Lane is back with Warrant. (Nevermind the rest of the band isn't the same.)
You can't trick me. Boo. |

About the whole gay hair metal thing...
One of the funniest (in a sad way) things I've ever seen is the KISS video for "I Was Made for Loving You". About 3/4 of the way in, Paul Stanley pulls out a couple of the tropes Chemda mentioned and gets his face right down into the camera and VERY obviously sucks his cheeks in to try to look fierce. Even in my childish, headbanging phase, I realized how fake and pathetic this was. BTW...that lineup for Rocklahoma looks friggin' awesome. Hell, I'd go for Queensryche alone, but I think I recognize nearly every band on that list. Wonder if Michael Schenker will be playing with UFO, or if this will be like the "new" CCR...sans John Fogerty, the "new" Steppenwolf, etc....

My post was in no way meant to be an endorsement. Believe me, I've lost myspace friends over how retarded I think Rocklahoma is.
As much as Team Tulsa would love an in-state KATG appearance, I don't think we're ready to resort to trickery. Unless you count Jmac's boobs as trickery. |
