The thing that Matt was talking about crimes or attrocities that occur in more modern times hit harder then those that happened in earlier centuries... Ummm duh! The populations that were alive during those events would have mourned/reacted then. If your Grandmother dies today does that mean that her death had more influence to you than when your great grandmother died to your relatives then? I know thats a muddled point but still...

And FTW Nazis are way worse! I loved how Matt said that the prisoners 'could' have rebelled and gotten away... Geez I wonder why they didn't try that? Maybe because the will to live was seen as an act of rebellion. In Auschwitz 700 prisoners tried to escape, 300 were successful. Just saying that the conditions were created in such a way that it became nearly impossible for anyone to have the strength/courage/will/ability to escape.

Just my 0.02.
I should prolly listen to the whole show before I comment BUT I'm about 20 minutes in and I completely agree with you.
Matt starts with one specific argument (the Nazis were so moved by beauty that they didn't destroy certain architecture in France) and as soon as C&K disagree with him he switches to a whole other general point in a sarcastic way (well, I guess art can't effect anyone ever) which no one can disagree with. It's hard to listen to.

The 6th Annual Slinging Ink Tattoo Convention is rolling through San Antonio March 6-8 @ the Freeman Coliseum. Slinging Ink

You're likely to find a decent portrait artist there. Hmmmm....

I had to take a break around minute 30 / 40. He calms down and the show is a good one. It's not that the first bit isn't good, it's just hard to listen to without wanting to talk back to my iPod. I try to avoid doing that because then I'm forced to fight off the orderlies and I wind up getting behind for the day.

I'm right around there now. I had to laugh when after being called a simpleton, moron, and "insane person," Keith just starts laughing at the ridiculousness of it. But yeah, Matt got pretty shouty right around there.

Matt Bray has to be my least favorite regular guest. I guess he thinks yelling makes him less wrong about things.

I dont know Matt, I have hated and despised him and traded virtual words with him, and shared common interests with him also. I take and appreciate Matt on the show as a performance art piece. I think he adopts the dissenting point of view just to piss off the audience which he seems to hold a mild disdain for based on the fact that for the most part the people who argue with him are fake internet folk who act tough and feel entitled to something for no apparent reason. He knows it plays good and bad with the audience and creates a buzz and he seems more than happy to oblige and indulge all of those in here who love to argue about loving or hating him. I listened to this show and while I heard every word, I wasnt really listening because of how I view his intent, this makes me enjoy his appearances more than I use to and revel in the fact that I know how much it pisses off the rank and file listener when he adopt the conflicting point of view.

The problem with proving coldplay copied the hook from Joe Satriani is it has to be show they consciously heard the track and decided to use it in their own track. It is possible they didn’t intend to do it and they only reason they were called on it was from the millions of people listening to millions of tracks some people noticed two that sounded the same. It all comes down to if it was done consciously their douches and should louse all rights to the track, if it was done unconsciously they should decide how much it contributes to the overall piece and if it’s decided it’s significant they should workout a deal.

Also aren’t you guys being a little hard on matt. Keith and chemda had both decide be fore the episode had started that coldplay were in the wrong. Matt was trying to show that it’s possible it was accident. In a 2 on 1 debate were they wouldn’t budge an inch he felt backed into a corner and got a little shouty and a little condescending. Then he started firing out a hard to follow scatter shot of the reuse of music in blues and rap, why copyright law is broken and the principles of creative commons. I know I’ve done the same thing while debating a point in the past.
