Either I've been lucky as hell, or I don't socialize with that kind of nerd as much, but I've honestly never had that kind of "witholding information" discussion with a nerd. I dunno. *shrug*

I think it really depends what age of "kids" you're talking about here. I mean thinking back to my own childhood definately waaay before any of my friends were interested in girls in any way they'd still act out fight scenes from whatever the hell theyd been watching. And kids are just mini drunk people so of course somebody ends up getting smacked in the face or falling off something....
Anyhoo my point is fight scenes are cool to kids when sex scenes are just embarrassing. So if we're talking about kids emulating what they see on tv, I'd say violence is more likely (though obviously the repercussions of sex could be more severe). Mr Twitchy |

i have been playing violent video games since i was about 9 and i am not violent, but yeah i did wanna have sex more after watchin a couple of porn movies
the whole arguement about violent video games is pretty much a no brainer, i think it all boils down to the mental disposition of the person playing them. yeah if you are bashing a persons head in with a bat in GTA, i do get the thought of doing that in real life to a couple of choice people, but thats where it stays (in my head) |

Bad attempt at quoting the "end of argument" that bill hicks did.
But if you see teenagers or young kids who see violent movies or play a lot of violent videogames, or see violence on the tv screen in continuous manner: they're a lot more indifferent when they see actual violence in real life. Part of my job is doing lectures to kids about social issues, and teenagers do not care about blood and guts, and war victims. I always thought it was because seeing it repeatedly, kinda makes it less shocking. That's how it worked for me. You can get desensitized to everything, even the ugliest violence. I'm not saying it's necesarily bad (i'll take a cold hearted teen ten times, instead of a sensitive pussy), i'm just saying what i've seen. End of Argument. Cough. |
