I only wish the best for Bianca, she seems like a really kind person and deserves the best.

First off, apologies for breaking Keith's science on show 3235. Been super busy at work the last couple months and haven't been doing the polls. Today on Last Week I realized I am an outlier and should have partaken of the poll. There are now 2 who admit to having a restraining order against them.
From Chemda's comment, I assume details would be helpful, so here it goes. Over the years I've dropped tiny bits of info about my divorce on the main show threads. Here is some of the behind the scenes for the VIP crowd behind the paywall. My ex got a restraining order against me during our divorce. I don't know if it was her idea or her scumbag lawyer's. Either way, they requested it and it was granted. I think it was in effect for 3 or 4 years. I was allowed to come to the house only to get my kids for visitation. If I wanted to attend a birthday party for the kids at the house, I had to get written permission 30 days in advance and file it with the court. ($250/hr for my lawyer, $300/hr for hers. All of which I had to pay.) Any communication with my ex had to go through both lawyers. Since I moved out with only what I could fit in my car, it was over 2 years before I was allowed back in the house to get my clothes, CDs, books, etc. I'm an introvert, and very mild mannered. In 16 years of marriage I never yelled at her and certainly never abused her. The shame I felt over this was horrific. My family stopped talking to me and all of our shared "friends" ghosted me. Now for the behind the scenes. I left her. It was my choice. The only thing I wanted out of the divorce was visitation with my kids. That's it. She got a 7-figure cash parting gift and a 4,000 square foot house on 7 acres, free and clear. And a new car. I got a restraining order and over $70,000 in legal bills by the time it was all said and done. I think the restraining order was filed to make me look like the bad guy. In court they talked up how violent I was, how frightened she was, etc. That was then used to sway the judge that she would need extra money in the settlement so she could take care of her own protection against me. The judge hit me with $5,000 per month for alimony and $2,500 for child support. (Yeah, $7,500 per month. Every month. And no, I don't make nearly that much.) |

My ex was unemployed at the time. We had two kids and she opted to quit her job and stay home to raise the kids. That was a decision she made, and I was more or less on board with. But when it came to court her lawyer stressed the needs of the kids, she'd been out of the work force long enough she would require more schooling, training, blah, blah, blah. So her earning potential was 0. For the first few years of alimony and child support I had to dip heavily into my retirement fund to survive. I was forced to liquidate assets at a time that no sane person would have. Remember the market and housing crash around 2008? Yeah, then. I'm doing fine now, but this month marks the 20-year anniversary of me leaving her. It's been a long road. |

If you filed for divorce from her how the heck were they painting it like she was trying to get away from you? And what violence did they bring up to make you scary if you weren't violent? (I'm not saying I don't believe you. I was just wondering what stories they told in the court room). Do you still not talk the fam that ghosted you? |
