Yea, i seem to be more than fine with all FPS like Quake, Halo and Unreal but there's just something about the realistic military FPS games that i just can't get a grip with. I've tried Call of Duty, Rainbow Six and the like to no avail.
I did love the first Splinter Cell, however it wasn't a FPS nor was it technically a military game so i guess that point is rather irrelevant. Being a free game though, i'll probably check it out sooner or later. |

Ok i agree with all the obvious great picks like orange box, bioshock, COD 4, Gears of war, exct.....
BUT you could add up all the game play hours of these new hot titles and it still does not even get close to how much i played Oblivion. Seriously, Oblivion is the fucking shit. I have 200 hours of gameplay and I still have not started the main mission. My character is so fucking bad ass. Pick that shit up for like 20 bucks (try to get the game of the year edition to save you money down the road if you want the expansion world), then if you like it, download all the amazing extra content from xbox live (except horse armor that is a bullshit ripoff) and you have another 100+ hours of amazing gameplay to explore. The downloadable content has a new world to explore which is cool as hell, and it has specialized lairs that get added to the original world for each job class. So I use the pirates cove as my base of operations, its specifically designed for thieves/ninja type players. I have a guy who buys my stolen goods at top dollar, I send out a team of pirates to loot and rob for me, and have people selling potions weapons and armor all for my specific needs. Seriously im an oblivion junky, even if you hate RPGs this game has enough action game play depth to trick you into loving this amazing rpg. All this Oblivion talk just makes me salvate for Fallout3. Thats it im booting up oblivion, i need the rush of turning invisible sneaking up behind innocent townsfolk, pick pocket their house key returning at night and robbing their valuables. |

There are a lot of great suggestions in this thread. I definitely would suggest Project Gotham Racing 4 or if you like final fantasy style RPG's get Lost Odyssey, it's four discs so its a pretty long game too.

Rockband is STILL not released in Australia and there was a report this morning that it may never come out. From Joystiq;
"... it seems retailers are hesitant to transport and shelve the bulky bundles, especially since the title is nearly a year old. The same tipster also disclosed that Australian stores are much more likely to sell the cheaper and newer Guitar Hero: World Tour when it drops later this year. It's great news for Activision, but EA may be in a heap of trouble Down Under -- further speculation from IGN's tipster states that for similar reasons, Rock Band 2 may skip over the sunburned country, making the Commonwealth of Australia a strictly Guitar Hero territory. It's regrettable that they might not have the faux-rocking opportunities afforded to the rest of the gaming world -- though we're certainly jealous that they may not have to suffer the Battle of the Band Simulators that has nearly torn the rest of the planet asunder." I've tried to import it from the UK (they use PAL like we do here in Aus) but the package is too large to send. Boo! In other news, I won Grid, Kung Fu Panda and Indiana Jones Lego last week. GRID is a great arcade-style racing and I'm really enjoying it! Highly recommended. Yet to play Indiana Jones Lego yet but the Kung Fu Panda game is pretty cool - but Gears Of War, Guitar Hero, Bioshock and Grid are more deserving of your dollareedoos. |

I didn't want to start a new thread since this one was already out there. I just got a 360 this weekend and purchased GTA and COD4. Before the 360 I was a PC gamer who played FPS, mainly the Battlefield series. Most recently Battlefield: 2142. Since I play on the PC I used the keyboard/mouse for control which as of now I think is superior to using a 360 controller. In my brief time with COD4 I found it difficult to control the view/aim with the controller. I was just wondering if there were any other PC gamers who switched to a console game and how they got used to the controller. Is it just a matter of practice or are there some sensitivity settings I should look into? Any advice you guys have would be appreciated.

Oblivion was a fucking steal at its original price, but that you can buy Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and the original game all in one package makes it the best game of this generation.
