Billy Connolly Show

Thought some of you comedy buffs might
appriciate this.
Billy Connolly is normally pretty shit,
but he has a beard, so we can cleary denote
that as to the reason of his success.

Billy is great, mostly observational with some "growing up in Glasgow" stuff thrown in for laughs. Obviously it helps if you have a "Britishy" sense of humor or your country has been part of the "Empire" in the past hundred years or so.

I finally got to see Billy Connolly live back in April - it was great. I needed to piss 2 minutes into the show but didn't want to miss anything. I waited for a good 2 hours before I couldn't stand it anymore. Ran to the toilet hoping Billy wouldn't spot me and call me out which had already happened twice in the night. Didn't get called out but came back into the show with him "growling at the badger" - I nearly pissed myself again laughing.

He is awesome...no argument. I have listened / seen most of everything he has done.

On stage he rocks......but in recent years he has developed a bit of a god complex and thinks that everything he does is immediate comedy gold.

When he has done his travel programmes he tends to be a bit up his own arse pretending he is so knowledgable and passionate about the places (with the exception of some of his sctoland programme obciously) when really he is just telling what teh researchers have told him to say.

Let me re-iterate that I think he is fantastic and his standup and songs have alwayus been pure genius.

Duly noted and yes, he is getting old, but the places he went to in his world tours were all places he played constantly throughout his career. Does that make his show any more valid because of that? No, its still his point of view on places like Sydney, Christchurch, Dublin etc etc.

I grew up on Billy Connolly thanks to my dad liking his stuff and he's been cosistently one of the greatest observational comics of his generation.
