Boycott Target?

Mad About Corporate Political Donations, Customers Boycott Target, Best Buy : The Two-Way : NPR

So the air is all atwitter about the donation Target Corp. made to an anti-gay candidate for Gov. in it's home state of MN.

Do you think a pro-gay boycott of target is justified, yes or no?

Really quite a silly subject, as corporations shouldn't be giving money to political campaigns at all, but that's not a problem you can solve via boycott.

Besides, I find it hard to support what essentially encourages a boycott war.

im not gonna boycott. they didn't think "ooh an anit-gay marriage candidate, lets vote for him". i'll bet it was some of their other issues and more pertinant stances for the benefit of target.
this is the same way people get bad names for declining a bill that would give free ipods but they don't mention that the bill also kills a million baby seals and legalizes whale fishing
they are completely unrelated and the free ipods or gay marriage is the focus to benefit that one reporter's personal agenda

That's bullshit. Intentional or not, Target gave money to an anti-gay rights campaign. This isn't about free iPods; maybe if you can't tell the difference between issues of civil rights and getting handouts you shouldn't comment.

I work for Target, they're usually very Pro-Gay, they have all kinds of programs to help with adoption, health benifits, and all that nonsense.

I won't boycott just because it's the only supermarket I can get to conveniently. Sorry gays.

Is it possible that they contributed because the anti-gay candidate had very pro-business ideas? Maybe if a pro-gay candidate also had pro-business ideas they would have supported that individual instead. It's just been my experience that businesses tend to vote their wallet more than any other issue.

I find it hard to believe that the very company that gave us the Isaac Mizrahi collection is anti-gay.
