Bug-out Bag

I've been noticing a couple of little things going on in the news about end of the world type stuff. And I've heard disturbing talk from people around me.

So I did some research (web sites and wiki
Bug-out bag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bug Out Bag – The 7 Types of Gear You Must Have to Survive

Survival Kit Checklist - Emergency Survival Gear List - Popular Mechanics).

I found that its not too crazy to have a bag in your home that holds a couple of important items to keep you safe for about 3 days if you ever needed to leave your home.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this too. Today I started getting little things from the camping store but I got worried that I may be going over board?

Has anyone else started or has a bug out bag?

Oh my you really are serious about this, right? And not in a 'I live in a hurricane prone area might be smart to have water and a first aid kit handy' way ...

*sigh*

Where I'm from we call this "an earthquake preparedness kit." Skip the canned food and buy a bunch of MREs. They are expensive, but way better than eating a shit ton of cold beans.
