Car Question
Hi everyone,
My car wouldn't start today because the immobilizer was engaged. I didn't leave any lights on, or do anything differently last night. The only thing was gas was low, but the indicator light wan't on. Could that be it - maybe affected the fuel pump - since that's what the immobilizer does. At least that's what I understand. I called the dealer, and they said maybe my key was misread too. So either bad key, gas too low, or someone was trying to steal it. (Which I really don't want to think about). My friend came and jumped the car, got gas, and it started again. The car is only coming up to be a year old - so the battery shouldn't be drained. The battery is a "green eye". Should I be going out and starting it, or should I just leave it till I go home. Jebus, I don't want to sleep at work lol.

No - but I did have one in for a few days. It's been out since Friday.
Update at 6:14. Nothing, but no immobilizer issue. Still won't turn over. How long should it be charged for? Thanks! Last edited by Rhian; 06-13-2006 at 06:15 PM. |

You should be able to start it pretty quickly once you have it on a charger, if everything is plugged in right.
You know this car, right? You're used to it? |

Yes, I am used to it, but I'm an idiot. As it turns out, the back dome light was one. One of my students must have knocked it on when she got in the car after the rehearsal, and having so many bags and hangers etc it's possilbe that is what happened, since she was the only one there.
I mentioned the immobilizer because the car shook a bit and the indicator lights flashed quickly, and that is what Honda said it was. I also don't have a long drive to work, and my friends put the cables on for a very short time. Finally my husband was able to charge it for a good 20 minutes, and all is right is my world. Knock on wood! Thanks for all your help. |

My favorite vehicle was my 1975 Postal Jeep. The weird thing was that when you put the key in a modern car it clicks forward once, twice, then starts the car. In the Jeep the "off" position was in the middle. Forward starts and backward would turn on all the accessories.
Of course I would turn the key all the way back, which would be turning things on. For months I would disconnect the battery. When I finally found out what the cause was I felt soooo stupid. I promised I'd never tell anyone. |
