Junk... sorry that's not a rational argument. It's improper to lump all people under one person's single opinion.

Instead of quoting the constitution I see a few needs for individual ownership of firearms in America including protection, hunting, sport shooting, hobby and collection.

Banning assault weapons or high capacity magazines do little to decrease crime or prevent mass shootings. These are the reasons for the push in new gun control laws.

Mass shooters have almost all been people who have demonstrated and judged to have previous mental issues including the Colorado movie theatre and recent Newtown shooters. An update and change to the database would have caught the Colorado shooter but not the Newtown shooter. It was the irresponsible ownership by the Newtown shooter's mother and her inability to lock her weapons up which allowed her little monster to create this massacre. The Columnbine shooters got their weapons through straw sales. The VA tech shooter's family knew he was insane and a gun nut and did nothing. Can we hold the family of these perpetrator's responsible for not controlling their monster?

As far as individual crimes these guns are possessed by criminal elements which gained them illegally in the first place. How can new gun laws do not work on people who don't follow the law?

Most gun owners are responsible people who go through the normal and legal means to purchase firearms. These new laws and updated excecutive orders offer a new reason to create another agency to overlook people for no real reason.

A background check to purchase bullets, really? How would that work? The current background check is a two page legal document which ends with a phone call to your state's investigation department which is linked to the FBI'S database. Meanwhile your typical clerk at Wal-Mart (biggest ammo seller) has trouble making change from a $20 from an $11.32 purchase.

The first assault weapons BAN didn't work and neither will this. The NRA was woefully ignorant offering an idea to put volunteer armed guards in schools. However we are ignorant to believe new gun laws which do not address the issue of identifying true threats to the masses will do anything for you or your family.

Those believing this is some sort of conspiracy theory to take away guns are only fooling themselve. I would imagine a good number of these people are the same folks buying military gear and doing tuck and rolls in their backyard.

I honestly believe in a citizen's rights to possess firearms. However, I also believe in a balance of gun laws and citizen rights. A major issue is the various state, local and federal govt. to properly and consistently enforce current gun laws.

example: Outside of private owner to private owner sales; all gun purchases require a criminal background check. This includes sales at gun shows. However, depending on the state; if a person has a concealed carry permit you will not have to pass a criminal background check. This is only because the required background checks individuals go through to obtain carry permits. If we want to close a loophole; close this loophole as background checks do not take an extreme amount time.
