Small town, 2 hours out of Austin, 30% near deads, has a river... Is it New Braunfels?

Hell, you pretty much answered your own question in the first post. Take the job out of Austin, and if you don't like it, then look in 6 months. You'd be able to build up your savings, and pay down loans? Then if you do move back to Austin, you'd have a bit of a cushion. Or you could put it towards a better place. Especially if only 6 months in Bumfuck will help you get a better job if you move back...

I agree with what the gunner is sayin. You know the route you need to take and in the long run, two hours away from a major city isn't all that bad. You could make that commute on the weekends and still meet up with some random who will make all your dreams come true. If there were any easier age to maintain a long distance relationship, it is this one if that was your main concern.

It's nice to see that someone besides me sees this decision in a positive light. Some of my friends think I'm nuts for even considering it. But maybe they just don't want me to leave because they'd miss me too much.

Well, cross your fingers for me today. The director told me I was her top candidate, but that she had one more interview today, and would be making her decision immediately following. Hopefully, this time, I come in 1st place. I'll be expecting the call sometime after noon. Until then, I'll be practicing my cold-hard salary-negotiations voice.

Good, New Braunfels kinda sucks, it's got the river but that's about it. You could get yourself a nice cheap doublewide out there if you wanted though. Let's see, you'd have skipped the river if it was Canyon Lake, so that means it must be Seguin.

It sounds to me like you've got nothing but good things coming your way. Good things outside your comfort zone, maybe, but I think you're going to enjoy yourself.
