It is always funny when you look back and try to relate to high school because in my opinion nothing ever compares to it. Highschool is a pre-game to life and there will be highs and lows like you can't imagine.

For me my shitty days were mainly in middle school when I was really depressed and suffered from panic attacks. I've always got along well with everyone, but I still recognized that in high school, most people were kinda douchebags or just empty-headed wastes of time.

High school might've been the best time of my life, but that's mostly because I didn't have to pay for my own stuff and I lived in the same town as all my best friends, obviously.

Life does get better, but what Lanfear said is right, you're only as happy as you allow yourself to be. Especially after HS, in college, it doesn't matter where you go, the diversity of people will allow you to find those you have things in common with and the way colleges work, you don't really have to ever bother with people you don't like.

I'm enjoying my college experience for the most part, it's just a bit unfortunate that I'm so damn broke all the time, but as far as everything else goes, yeah I miss some of my friends from HS, but I'm happy.

You can be too.

I think this pretty much sums it up:

Whatever your nerdlinger obsessions, college has people who have them too.

I'm 21 & don't even remember high school at this point. I live in one of the most economically depressed cities in the entire country. We have one of the highest national unemployment rates in our countries existence (around 9%) & my city is double that (18%.)

Life ain't easy, but it is amazing at times & much better than high school. I didn't even go to college after high school & the last 3 years have been the best of my life. I followed my passion of making hip hop music & now i've done things i never thought i could. I'm still broke as shit & paying my dues, but i've rocked in front of 1000s of people, "met" a lot of BEAUTIFUL women & made the people i look up to proud of me. All of this has happened in the last year. Obviously we prolly are gonna have WAY different paths & determining factors on what makes life "better," but i assure you, if you work towards it... It WILL happen.

I can tell you that University is the place where I learned how to budget as an adult. It is the absolute best time in your life to be broke and for the absolute best reason. The hell you are going through now would be 10 fold if you had a kid to feed, a mortgage to pay off and a few cars to gas up 3x a week. If you can stick it out you will guarantee yourself a better paying job so you can payoff those student loans faster, get yourself onto the property ladder sooner and keep yourself employed and out of debt, hopefully, indefinitely.

Does it get better? That depends entirely on you, my dear. If you go out with a positive attitude, learn to let go of the bullshit, and are open to enjoying opportunities and other people; yeah, it gets pretty fucking awesome.

This is completely true. It really does depend on your attitude when you go on to college. You can either choose to be shut in all the time, or go out with friends. My mistake my first semester of college was staying in and studying all the time, which hurt my social life a bit. I changed that second semester and I was much, much happier.

I think the great thing about college is that you can always find people who are apart of the same niche. That... or you'll find multiple friends that you can share a variety of similarities to.

It gets better.
Even while I was in high school, I never understood people who said that's the best time of your life. I was smart and well liked. Popular with everyone even though I was all "fuck you! Punk rock!". I still knew that high school was bullshit and nowhere near as important as, well, everything else in your life. I always thought my 20s would be the best time, you're on your own, becoming a real person; you've got freedom and the world at your feet. Just hold out. I was right about my twenties and now that I'm 30, this is still, despite anything that goes wrong, the best time of my life.
Maybe everything -after- high school is.
