If that's how it hurts someones atheist beliefs than their an insecure douchebag. Her praying doesn't harm you or your own beliefs in anyways. If she didn't ask and prayed for you silently you wouldn't know the difference.

Y'know, my orthodontist used to play football. In fact, he's a a sports guy. I'd call him a man's man. Whenever I go to the orthodontist he asks me whatever game that was just on, tv ad nauseum, etc. I let him go on and on, despite the fact I don't care for sports at all. I would even go as far as to say I hate sports. Should I tell this guy, who's just trying to be nice, that I hate sports?

I think the lesson here is this:
When your 13, and they say wear your retainer, just do it.

They generally don't have issues with praying for unbelievers. It's almost encouraged.

If you don't believe in her nonsense it's not sacrilegious.

Praying for unbelievers is more than encouraged. I'd say it's a tenet of the faith. It's what you do.

Vi, you did the right thing. Don't beat yourself up for letting someone be nice to you.

Same thing happened to me in the hospital except this woman ended up getting snippy toward the end.

Just let them go....it doesn't hurt you. This woman sounded nice so no worries, you did good.

And so sorry for your knee! Get well soon!

If nothing else you get to walk away knowing one more person in this world cares about you. As you have stated you are an atheist and don't believe a prayer is going to help you then just accept that she has you in her thoughts and maybe good thoughts will help you heal better.
Why disrespect someone just cause they believe differently ?

That is the stupidest thing I have heard today!!!!!!!! What does a person stopping to help and religion have to do with anything. How do you know that an atheist wasn't about to and then the godmonger stopped first ? don't pull stupid shit out of your ass like that

I like the way you did it. If she had said "pray with me" you could have explained your atheist situation. As it was, she just wanted to spread the love and not offend you in doing so.
