YAY for indie music!

i only recently got into filipino indie music when i got to gigging and there are a BUNCH of indie acts from manila that're really really great. And guess what: they're on last.fm!

check out:
ciudad - pop rock, similar to deathcab for cutie
yosha - filipino soul
sinosikat - filipino soul/pop (yosha's the better group. but you didn't hear that from me...)
mike's apartment - NOT porn

filipino soul, reeeally groovy
corporate lofi - of course, filipino hiphop

(we're not on last.fm yet

boo.)
nyko maca + playground - electropop/samba
wahijuara - jazz instrumental, soulful
radioactive sago project - spoken word/jazz instrumental (CRAAAZY guys but fun

)
DRT - ROCK!

Sigur Ros and Seu Jorge are two pretty well known artists that apply here.

They are Punk/rock but very very upbeat happy - listening to them just puts me in a good mood.

For the few bands that I listen to that actually sing in German a big part in why I like them are the lyrics so I am not sure that would be interesting for you.

Beatsteaks are awesome!

Die Ärzte are also huge over here if you're into that type of stuff... but their lyrics are all german and often humorous..

I heard Squarepusher the other day. that shit is pretty nutso. Oh, and Electric Wizard blew my mind, but probably because I was all fucked up one night. I tried listening to it sober and it wasn't as good. So I got fucked up again and it was awesome again. Guess they know what kind of music they like making.
