They really just seem like drama addicts. Some people like to make things as difficult and horrendous as possible because it makes life more comfortable for them, more lively, or gives them a place from which to manipulate. Trying to make you feel guilty about raising your kids and giving them one of the best educations imaginable -world travel, is fucking ridiculous. There's absolutely nothing selfish about giving your kids happy parents and a happy drama-free home. You are going to have to sacrifice, but it will all come together.

For serious, though. If your family can't support the choices that you and your wife make as a family; choices that you are both sure will be beneficial to your family as a whole, then they don't need to be in your life. I used to get very upset and hurt over my family, but I realised when I had my son, that my life needed to be about what was best for he and I. It couldn't be about what would make everyone happy, and I didn't want it to be anymore. You're married, and have children. You're no longer 'required' to please/take care of anyone's feelings but yourself, and your children.

It's hard, because you seem like you WANT to have a good/more healthy relationship with your parents, but if they can't support you and see what you're doing as YOUR RIGHT OF CHOICE, then it just can't be helped. Sometimes you have to be ok with making other people unhappy, in order to further yourself, however that may be. Good luck.
