The FUCK VISTA! thread

There's probably an old thread about this, but i bet, reading what other people say and tweet, that a new one wont hurt.

Fuck you Vista! Why did you suddenly de-activate my dvd-rom unit. so now i have to save my files on usb-keys? Xp didnt treat me like that! NEVER!

Feel free to vent and cry on each other's shoulder.

Coffee and biscuits are free.

Vista is a motherfucker; it's like Bill Gates personally wanted to fuck us all collectively in the ass so he invented this shit. Just last night my computer froze up, I restarted and it comes up with a whole reformatting hard-drive thing. I turned it off at the mains and back on which seemed to help but this is the 5th time it's happened. Don't get me started on all the shitty "security" settings - makes me want to shoot myself in the face.

Thanks for the coffee and biscuits, it helps ease the pain. We need a 12 step program - well it really only takes 2 steps to better your life:

i) Upgrade to XP or...
ii) Get a mac.

I always thought about getting a mac but it seemd that too many programs out there are Vista only. And i'm used with working with the office package.

Oh well. Shots!

I was happy with Vista when it came preinstalled on my new laptop last year for about a day because it was so nice and shiny ...

... until I started to actually work with it and install programs and quickly decided that an upgrade to XP was needed. Which I did (ahm I kinda sorta didn't pay for it BTW) and everythings is unicorns and rainbows ever since

Since the mac's have become a lot more popular in recent years a lot of software is compatible with both. There's even a microsoft office package for it. I have the same issues, some drawing/3D packages I need for school are only for Windows so I have to keep the PC but I have a macbook pro which I use for most other stuff

Have you tried fixing it? I've had different parts of computers, at home and work, just stop working. Everything from sound cards to recently one woman had every usb port stop working. That's on XP too, I refuse to use Vista. But yeah, I was able to just re-install that stuff, or maybe the drive's bad.

I get what you mean, but yeah i tried to fix it with the usual methods (reinstalling the drivers, checking the unit physically) but apparently something in the system has decided that the unit does not exist. I had the same problem some time ago with a printer, that was solved by connecting it on an old pc with xp on it. And it worked.

Vista is the most unfriendly system i've ever used. It refuses constantly to open files, run programs, read documents. And, worst of all, modifies parts of your data without asking.
