Usually the first steps in resolving game type issues is to make sure that you have upgraded to the latest video and sound drivers (XP, Vista, or Win 7). Also you should be on Vista SP 1 or SP 2. I have tested Vista and Win 7 Parent blocks and they do not affect the standard games unless the parents try to get tricky and block specific programs.
You are required to use a privileged account to look at event logs. Other problems can be caused by getting carried away with anti-virus tools and firewalls. So many people run an additional firewall on top of the one they already have, just because it comes with the anti-virus software they have installed. I personally believe that Symantec and Mcffee cause more problems then they solve. Bruce |
