But most civilians don't build their own. They buy a laptop or CPU and get crap forced down their throat. And then get lied to when they ask to downgrade.

I just purchased a new Dell for my brother-in-law to run his business with. It cost $333.00 (Intel dual core, Vista Home Premium). It is more than powerful enough to do what he needs.

Today the cheapest laptop that you can buy at Best Buy, with Vista Home Premium, is an Acer with an Athlon dual core processor, 3 gig of ram, and a 250 gig hard disk. All that for $379.99. How many people need more horsepower then that?

Almost all computers you purchase today run Vista just fine. If you have 512mb on an old XP box, then don't try to run Vista/Win 7 unless you upgrade your memory. My oldest PC that I run Vista on is about 7 years old. It's an AMD 2600 with 1.5 gig of memory.

I hated Vista so much and I even tried Windows 7 that I changed over to a Mac. My friends now call me benedict arnold.
